Unfortunately, not all the operating systems and applications support the multi-platform OpenType fonts to the same extent. The information and tables you will find bellow may help you decide which font format is the right one for your application, and it may assist the decision whether to upgrade to more recent version which does support OpenType fonts.

Set of 256 glyphs — applications which do not support Unicode can utilise only 256 characters of the OpenType font. Unicode support — programmes supporting Unicode can process all the characters the font contains, however, they may not be able to utilise some special functions of the font. Special features enable, for example, automatic substitution of lower case with small caps, automatic ligatures etc. Up to this day, these functions are supported only by certain applications. OT TT only — Certain number of apps may only process the versions of OpenType fonts containing TrueType curves.
